Nitrile Rubber (NBR) gaskets are engineered sealing components specifically designed for service in environments exposed to oils, fuels, greases, lubricants, hydraulic fluids, and a wide range of hydrocarbons. Known for their excellent oil resistance, good mechanical strength, and cost-effective performance, NBR gaskets are widely used for static and low-to-moderate dynamic sealing applications. These gaskets can be manufactured in a broad hardness range, typically from 50 to 85 Shore A, allowing optimization for compression, recovery, sealing force, and vibration damping depending on application requirements. They offer good resistance to abrasion, tear, and compression set, ensuring long-term sealing reliability under sustained load. NBR gaskets perform effectively over a typical service temperature range of approximately –30 °C to +110 °C, with specially formulated grades extending this range where required. They are suitable for use in automotive engines and transmissions, fuel systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, industrial pumps and compressors, gearboxes, machine housings, electrical panels, flanged joints, and general engineering assemblies. NBR gaskets can be supplied in solid extruded profiles, flat strips, cords, and custom cross-sections, and can be cut or joined into endless rings, frames, or application-specific shapes. Formulations and geometry can be tailored to control oil swell, tensile strength, elongation, compression set, and surface finish based on functional and environmental demands. Due to their balanced combination of oil resistance, durability, ease of processing, and commercial viability, NBR gaskets remain one of the most widely used elastomeric sealing solutions for industrial and automotive sealing applications.
